Safety notice from Shimano:
11-SPEED HOLLOWTECH II ROAD CRANKCASE UNITS MANUFACTURED BEFORE JULY 2019 INSPECTION NOTICE:
" Shimano Europe BV (“Shimano”), is initiating an inspection and replacement program for selected glued 11-speed HOLLOWTECH II Road cranksets produced between June 1, 2012 and June 30, 2019, for a possible adhesive release issue.
This specifically applies to Shimano ULTEGRA FC-6800, DURA-ACE FC-9000, ULTEGRA FC-R8000, DURA-ACE FC-R9100 and FC-R9100-P 11-speed Hollowtech Road Cranksets in Europe.
Not all ULTEGRA and DURA-ACE crank units require inspection. Only crank units produced between June 1, 2012 and June 30, 2019 require inspection.
If your crankset fails the inspection, we will work with Shimano to replace it with a new one. This process is completely free of charge for you.
HOW DO I KNOW IF MY CRANKCASE IS AFFECTED?
" To determine if this process applies to your crank arm assembly, you will need to identify the model number, the model number is stamped on the inside of the crank arm near the bottom of the arm. The following model numbers may be affected: ULTEGRA FC-6800, FC-R8000 and DURA-ACE FC-9000, FC-R9100 and FC-R9100-P.
If you have one of these cranksets, you need to check the production code, it is also stamped on the inside of the arm.
The affected cranksets have one of the following production codes:
KF, KG, KH, KI, KJ, KK, KL, LA, LB, LC, LD, LE, LF, LG, LH, LI, LJ, LK, LL, MA, MB, MC, MD, ME, MF, MG, MH, MI, MJ, MK, ML, NA, NB, NC, ND, NE, NF, NG, NH, NI, NJ, NK, NL, OA, OB, OC, OD, OE, OF, OG, OH, OI, OJ, OK, OL, PA, PB, PC, PD, PE, PF, PG, PH, PI, PJ, PK, PL, QA, QB, QC, QD, QE, QF, QG, QH, QI, QJ, QK, QL, RA, RB, RC, RD, RE and RF ."
